The Byron Township Fire Department covers a large portion of Byron Township and responds to a variety of incidents including; medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, and rescues in addition to fires.
The North-East corner and far East side is covered by the Cutlerville Fire Department which is located at 11 68th St SW, near S. Division Ave.
ISO Rating
The Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) evaluates fire departments in the United States. Based on this evaluation, they assign a rating between 1 and 10 for each department — 1 being the best and 10 being the worst. This rating can effect how much property insurance you pay for your home or business. In 2020 we had our ISO rating reevaluated, and below are the results of this evaluation.
- A property within 5 road miles of a recognized fire station and 1000 feet or less from a fire hydrant is classified as a 4.
- A property within 5 road miles of a recognized fire station and more than 1000 feet from a fire hydrant is classified as a 5.
- A property outside of 5 miles of a recognized fire station is classified as a 10.
