Permits Issued for:

  • Limbs
  • Stumps
  • Brush

Permit Not Required:

  • Cooking
  • Recreational Campfires
  • Household Paper Material

Items that are Not permitted to burn:

  • Leaves or Grass Clippings
  • Construction or Demolition Waste
  • Cardboard or Office Paper
  • Hazardous Substances
  • Automotive Parts
  • Tires
  • Furniture/Appliances
  • Household Trash

*Fires shall be constantly attended, must have at least (1) extinguishing device or other equipment on scene for immediate utilization, if needed, and must be extinguished by sunset.

Update to the Byron Township burn ordinance as of June 6, 2026: Commercial burning is permitted only upon lands zoned in the R-A Rural Agricultural District, provided that the outer edges of the burn pile shall at all times maintain a minimum separation distance of 500 feet from all structures and buildings located on the lands of neighboring property owners.
